For Australian farmers
Pot Trial
Pot trials use the actual soil from your farm and a chosen plant cultivar, combined with targeted Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) from our microbial collection. It is a scientifically robust, tailored way to prove and optimise the benefits of microbial inoculants before farm or crop application.
Custom pot trials offer proof before purchase, showing how selected PGPRs can unlock the unique potential of any farm's soil and chosen crop.
Why pot trials
The benefits of custom pot trials
A pot trial puts SoiLife's microbes to the test in your own soil, with your own crop, before you commit at scale. Here is what that gives you.
Real world relevance
Using the actual soil from your farm and your specific crop variety, pot trials reflect the unique soil, crop and microbe interactions you will face, increasing the accuracy and trustworthiness of results.
Evidence driven decisions
Trials can reveal statistically significant improvements, such as greater yield, root mass, nutrient uptake or stress resistance, so you see clear, measurable benefits from applying PGPR before making large investments.
Optimisation
By comparing different PGPR strains or combinations, trials identify which microbial products deliver the best performance for your goals, soil type and crop, maximising ROI and minimising risk. We can then run larger trials on farm to show real results.
Education and confidence
For market gardeners and croppers, seeing the results in their own soil and plants makes the science and the claims tangible, building confidence in decisions and fostering adoption.
Sustainability
Adoption of PGPR supports soil health, reduces the need for synthetic inputs, and fits well with regenerative and sustainable agriculture practices.
The science
SoiLife: the science of thriving soils
Healthy, living soil is the foundation of every successful farm, from broadacre cropping and orchards to grazing and pasture systems.
At SoiLife we rebuild that foundation using Australian-made, biologically driven solutions that restore life to your soil for long-term productivity.
To grow better above the ground, we must first bring life back beneath it.
Soil health
The three pillars of soil health
Most fertility programs focus only on chemistry. At SoiLife we go deeper, balancing the three pillars of true soil health. Biology is the link that powers the other two.

Physical health
- Stable aggregates let roots grow deep.
- Air and water flow freely through the soil profile.
- High water-holding capacity builds drought resilience.

Chemical health
- Essential macro and micronutrients in the right ratios.
- Correct pH for nutrient absorption.
- Low salinity and minimal nutrient lock-up.

Biological health
- Decompose organic matter into nutrients.
- Build and stabilise soil structure.
- Protect roots from disease and stress.
Custom pot trials

Got questions?
Pot Trial FAQ
How long does a pot trial take?
Typically 6 to 12 weeks depending on the cultivar. We provide a final report with biomass measurements, growth rates and a recommendation.
What soil and plant material do I need to provide?
We will send you collection guidance, usually 5 to 10 kg of soil from your target paddock plus seed or seedlings of the cultivar you are trialling.
Can I trial multiple microbe blends at once?
Yes. We run side-by-side replicates so you can compare the performance of different formulations against a control. Book a call to discuss the trial design.
What does the final report include?
Quantitative growth metrics (shoot length, biomass, root mass), photographic documentation, and a recommendation on whether to scale.
